GAY VIDEO COMEDY NIGHT: No group within the greater society is truly liberated truly freeuntil it develops its own humor and is capable of laughing at (and with) itself. Unheard of 15 years ago, almost every long-running television series today has included at least one "gay" episode in its repertoire.

On Tuesday evening, March 15th, the USF Gay/Lesbian Coalition will hold its monthly video night dedicated exclusively to comedy. Several different types of episodic comedy will be shown, and everyone who is present will be able to vote on their choices of selections.

One episode scheduled is the groundbreaking 1971 broadcast of All In The Family in which Archie Bunker claims he "knows a fruit when he sees one." Was it the football player. Was it the portrait painter? Or could it have been both of them? This program so enraged President Richard Nixon that he called the chairman of the board of CBS demanding that All In The Family be terminated. CBS denied Nixon's request.

If you have a favorite lesbian or gay comedy video (VHS format) that you wish to share, you are invited to bring it with you. The video committee is currently seeking a copy of last year's "Killing All The Right People"" episode of Designing Women. Anyone who has a copy for loan is asked to please call (813) 974-GAYS.

Video night is free, and all are welcome. THE ANNUAL RUN FOR YOUR LIFE' has been scheduled for April 24th, at Tampa's

Horizon Park.

Inspired and led in 1987 by Brent Nicholson-Earle, who ran an amazing 10,000 miles around the United States in the American Run for the End of AIDS (AREA), the Tampa AIDS Network (TAN) will again sponsor "Run For Your Life." Participants in this run/walk collect pledges from sponsors for miles run or walked. All funds raised go directly for the support of persons with AIDS and for AIDS education of the community at large.

In addition to the 1987 run/walk being the most successful fundraiser for TAN to date, Tampa's event was one of the most successful AIDS runs in the country.

Planning is beginning immediately. All interested individuals are urged to call the TAN Information Line at (813) 221-6420.

INTEGRITY, THE ORGANIZATION for gay and lesbian Episcopalians, will celebrate Eucharist followed by a social at the Episcopal University Church, 12850 North 50th Street (edge of the University of South Florida campus) in Tampa at 7 p.m. on March 13th. All are welcome.

For further information, call (813) 2514740.

WMNF WOMEN'S SHOW SCHEDULE: March is National Women's History Month. To honor the occasion, the Women's Show will feature "Great Moments in Herstory."

March 12th-Terry Baum, playwright and founder of the San Francisco Theatre Lilith, is featured in this production by Dorothy Abbott.

March 19th Deborah Kurelik reports on EMILY (Early Money Is Like Yeast!), a fund for Democratic women. Included are interviews with Florida state Senator Pat Frank and Representative Helen Gordon Davis.

March 26th Mag Segrest, author of My Mama's Dead Squirrel: Lesbian Essays on Southern Culture and current coordinator of North Carolinians Against Racist and Religious Violence, speaks from the National Women's Studies Association conference at Spelman College. Segrest discusses her feminist lifestyle and her ongoing anti-Klan work. Segrest writes: "Whatever conclusion I arrive at in language must find its expression in action in the world." This production feature

by Dorothy Abbott also includes an interview with Segrest.

Coordinated by Ronna Kelley and Susan Lockwood, the Women's Show is a radio magazine by, for and about women. It includes Iwomen's music, words and issues. The show airs from 10 a.m. until noon each Saturday on WMNF Community Radio 88.5-FM. The "Women's Show News" by Em Alvarez and Lesley Gresham airs at 11 a.m.

GRIER AT GUILD: The Candy Store And How It Grew will be discussed by Barbara Grier at the April 5th meeting of the Tampa Bay Business Guild. Grier is a political activist, author, publisher and owner of Naiad Press the world's largest and oldest lesbian publishing house.

No telephone reservations will be accepted. for this very special program, and reservations will be limited to 300. Mail check or money order (along with your name and address) to the Tampa Bay Business Guild (Attention: Tickets), 1222 South Dale Mabry, Suite 656, Tampa, Florida 33629. The cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. All mail reservations must be received by Monday,

March 28th.

The evening will begin at 6:30 for cocktails at the cash bar, with dinner at 7:30. The meeting will be held at the Tampa Airport Marriott.

TAMPA

THE LAMBDA COMMUNITY Center Committee sponsored a pizza party at Tracks on Saturday, February 27th. This social mixer was a get-together of Bay Area organizations for a get-acquainted party. The committee gathered ideas concerning just what things the community wants to be part of the proposed community center.

The Lambda group meets each Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Tracks, and all are welcome to attend.

COORDINATOR HIRED BY TAN: Nancy L. Brown has been appointed development coordinator for the Tampa AIDS Network (TAN). Brown and her assistant Sharon will be providing management support for TAN for the upcoming year. When they are not busy with TAN, Nancy and Sharon are consultants for other non-profit organizations in the fields of management, marketing and fundraising..

Brown is a consultant and trainer for nonprofit organizations. Professionally, Brown has 15 years of experience in organizational management, marketing and fundraising having held an executive-level regional management position for a national health agency where she won national recognition for outstanding achievement in fundraising development. Prior to that, she held marketing positions with two professional theaters and a media marketing group.

Brown has held leadership positions on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations and has been actively involved in legislative relations for statewide charitable solicitation issues. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Stephens College (Missouri) and her graduate business training from Rollins College in Orlando. She is a member of Leadership Pinellas and was awarded the Certified Fundraising Executive designation in 1987 in recognition of her extensive professional service to the development field.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the Tampa AIDS Network," said Brown. "It is apparent that this organization has already developed into a major force in the community, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to facilitate even greater growth. One of the things we hope to do this year is to acquire all of the necessary office equipment so that TAN can have an actual office in 1989.
